This sounds like a good candidate for the info.aprs.net Wiki or some
other Wiki, where the docs can be kept up-to-date by hams that are
going through the procedure constantly.

Since AX.25 kernel networking has applications for APRS, a page on
the info.aprs.net Wiki shouldn't be shot down by anyone.
