System is Leopard, on a Macbook pro.
What does it say when you run ./configure? I get
checking curl/curl.h usability... yes
checking curl/curl.h presence... yes
checking for curl/curl.h... yes
checking for curl_global_init in -lcurl... yes
Also (as part of the summary at the end),
internet map retrieval ................. : yes (libcurl)
Apparently xastir won't look for wget if curl is installed.
