I agree with you Mike.
This battle should be fought on legal grounds, basically getting Amazon,
Ebay and the rest to remove ads which are clear copyright infringement
or straight up pirating.
People who buy those "boxes" either already know Kodi and just want a
preconfigured box (even though that's against the rules) or have no clue
what Kodi is and are just buying something which looks good.
Disabling or removing stuff from such items will make Kodi the bad guy,
not the guys who produce those boxes.
Fighting this on a higher level is far more complicated and difficult,
but it is the only correct path.
This is an open source software which should be protected by law.
In the end we can always lock up Kodi, make users register at the
website and only then be able to use their box after we check their
identity.
Kidding aside, I completely understand frustration of Kodi developers,
we've all seen complete injustice towards this program and brand. And
since Ebay, Amazon and Google prefer money over law and that complicates
everything.

Very bad slippery slope this will take you down
IMO, no one should ever be touching anything installed on my system,
if I installed an addon then I want it there and no one has any right
to remove it for me or doing anything to it.. there have already been
issues of this happening before and no one was very pleased about it
Basically - who are you to decide what I can and cannot run on my system?
Sean's suggestion is a much better passive aggressive approach,
disable your own addon from running, though I still wonder if anything
of the sort should be done

Based on the recent post on the Kodi web site, I thought of a similar
feature.
I imagined an addon that would detect blacklisted addons, and if it
finds one either:
1) Uninstall the blacklisted addons
2) Disable the blacklisted addons
3) Uninstall the "Blacklist Check Addon" itself
Then different addon developers could put a dependancy on "Blacklist
Check Addon" in their addon.xml (For case 3 - the addon wouldn't start
as it's dependancy is missing?)
Thoughts?

Hi guys,
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to send this question,
but I thought I'd give it a try, as I'm sure other developers may
also be interested.
I get the impression that my Super Favourites addon is being used
on a fair number of the "builds" that are flooding the market places.
If I were to add code that prevented it from working on such
builds would the adddon still be allowed in the official repo?
I haven't actually looked to see whether this would be feasible
(looking for the presence of certain addons would probably do it -
I could probably use some sort of black list) but I thought I'd
ask the question first.
Best Regards,
Sean
