Joe,

I've skied at Cherokee more recently than 1996 (I believe 1999 was
the last time) but that was one of the only times. Hence, I wasn't aware
that the city grooms this one; it hadn't been when I was there. As I
recall, Cherokee doesn't have much possibility for skating in its current
form; too narrow. I'm not sure what the prospects would be for widening the
trails there to allow for skating as well as striding. I like to do both.
I think Claire and some of the other writers (myself included) were
expressing a desire for a trail system somewhat comparable to Elver (i.e.,
good training conditions for skating and striding OR just a beautiful,
leisurely outing) on the east side.

What about Cherokee South? Does anyone ski there? The last time
I skied there (1996) it was freshly groomed except where some
kids four-wheeled down the trail in their Daddy's SUV.
