Last year at this time our reports were of the rapidly diminishing and liquefying base on the Birkie Trail. This year it is quite the opposite. The base is anywhere from 9 to 15" and is mostly hard packed. In the woods there are over 2 feet of snow. Temps will remain below freezing. >From KBJR-TV, Duluth the following weather forecast for the rest of the week has been issued. They have been relatively accurate and I would expect this pattern to play out as predicted. The only unknown so far is how much snow will fall on Saturday night. CURRENT WEATHER: 1-2" light snow last night with additional possible flurries today. Temps to be high near 25F.Low 5-10F. Possible lake effect snow near Lake Superior. Clearing and partly sunny later in the day. FORECAST FRIDAY: High near 19F. Low 14F. Snow beginning around midnight. Possible accumulation of 4". SATURDAY: High 24F. Clearing. MAJOR snowstorm moving in Saturday evening. No prediction yet on total accumulation. TOKO wax recommendations remain the same, but glide wax may likely be changing to Toko Dibloc Red with other preparations the same. This report will be updated later today if major changes occur and definitely on Friday morning. |
