CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL REPORT
March 18, 2001
WEATHER FORECAST: Temps - Highs in 30s+ - Great Spring Skiing!
ABR TRAILS
Ironwood, MI
Conditions: Continue to be excellent. Excellent. The wooded areas are still powdery snow, southern exposed areas were transformed. We regroomed Thursday morning, 3/15 and tracks reset on 3/16.
AFTERHOURS SKI TRAIL - Brule River State Forest
Brule, WI
The Brule River State Forest's Afterhours Ski Trail was groomed on 03-15-01. Though the condition is very good to excellent, the conditions change pending on whether the particular section of trail has a southern exposure. Expect that the trail will get icy from the freeze/thaw cycle that has been occurring, and will continue to occur the rest of the season. Daytime highs will be in the 40's and nighttime lows will be in the teens. Mornings will be fast and afternoons will be slow.

BLUE HILLS TRAIL
Bruce, WI
The entire system was packed by rolling Tuesday, March 13, and a striding lane was set for part of the EastSideTrail. Mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of around 40 degrees F meant typical spring skiing Thursday, March 15. Conditions were variable (depending on sun, shade and temperatures) ranging from firm and fast to somewhat soft and sticky. Monday's seven-inch snowfall has been well compressed by grooming Tuesday; the base is in great shape.

About six inches of new snow fell during the day on March 12. The LHS trail was groomed that evening and a diagonal track was set. Conditions after grooming were excellent. The lights are still on from dusk until 10:00 p.m.

3/9 - Trails tracked and groomed. All trails open. Conditions: Good.
TELEMARK SKI TRAILS
Cable, WI
Six inches of new snow has fallen since last Friday, 3/9. All trails are in good to very good and have a single, double or triple set track. Trails have a 16 - 20 inch packed base. Skating/classic trails are being groomed with our LMC groomer and tiller as well as our Tidd-Tech. The classic only Allison and Rockwell trails will not be groomed again this season. We expect to be open for XC skiing on weekends through the end of March.
