BlueHillsTrail update...
Great spring skiing this morning (Thursday, March 22) -- effortless!
Freeze-thaw cycles continue to produce an overnight crust that gives way
to a fast, corn-snow surface by mid to late morning. Skiing this
afternoon was a bit slower, but still very enjoyable. Striding using
waxless skis should be enjoyable as the base softens each day.
Temperatures peaked about 39 degrees F today, and other than one bare
spot visible on a steep, sun-exposed hill, the base is holding up well.
Grooming this weekend might be considered -- although probably is
unnecessary. The ruts from yesterdays' skiers tend to obliterate with
the daytime thaw, and the surface is ready for new skiers each morning.
