Weekend skiers,
Just went to Blue Mound again. It was 45 degrees
& sunny. I'm downgrading my
evaluation to just "sorta fabulous" now. Still very skiable with the loose melted (slushy) snow on top, but it could freeze hard & be icy this weekend. The 1 and 2 mile loops in the woods that come right back to the swimming pool are excellent. So is the portion of the trail from there to almost to the campground. However, you have to "portage" or walk 10 to 30 feet on leaves around some bare spots. They are mostly on the downhill run into the campground and on the trail between the campground & pool. Plenty of snow covers the asphalt in the campground today. The trails dropping down from the campground to
the bike trail & those in the eastern fields are shot unless you don't mind
skiing on some gravel & grass.
Park staff must have groomed the wooded trails in
the a.m. Might do it again tonight/tomorrow?
Overall, still lots of fun if it's not icy. Ski ya, Don |
