November 30, 2001 Snow & Trail Conditions at The Telemark Lodge, Cable, Wisconsin Our 20+ inch snowfall has packed to a 4 inch (low elevations) to 7 inch base (high elevations) on our cross country ski trails. At this time 23 kilometers of the 65K trail system are rolled and open for skiing. Conditions are good. Trail surfaces are not hard yet, but they are firm. Moderate nighttime and daytime temperatures have prevented ground freeze so some softness in low areas can be expected today. We hope to have our Tubing Hill open on Saturday for the Christmas in Cable Craft Fair. Some snowshoe trails are broken in already. Additional snow accumulations of one to three inches are forecast for Friday evening into Saturday. Telemark is open for recreation, lodging and dining seven days a week. Hours for cross country skiing are 9 am to 4 pm. Hours for tubing are 9 am to 8 pm. Tracks will be set on the Birkebeiner 2, 4, 5 & 7 K loops, the Sven Wiik and Caldwell World Cup trails, and the Tony Wise Trail tonight. While other trails may be rolled or tracked by the weekend our goal is to provide the best skiing possible on the trails currently open. You may expect very good to excellent prime ski season conditions by then. Rock skis should not be necessary.
