CROSS COUNTRY SKI  TRAIL REPORT

Updated: February 6, 2002

Current conditions: Temperatures to mid to high 30s on Wed. Returning to low/mid 20s through the weekend. Possible snow flurries on Sat. Trail conditions holding up well where there has been snow and regular grooming.

ABR TRAILS
Ironwood, MI
Conditions: Excellent. It does not not get any better, fresh snow hanging on the trees, 100 % open and groomed. It looks like a winter wonderland again. Skate lanes and classic tracks are firm.

AFTERHOURS CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL/BRULE RIVER STATE FOREST
Brule, WI
The trail was groomed Jan. 30 just before it snowed an inch. This inch of moderately dense snow "non lake effect snow" was a real blessing to the trail. There still are some thin spots on the Spruce and Oak Trails when you get into the Norway Spruce areas. The inch of snow will be left to get skied in. The whole trail is tracked and most of the track is at least 3/4 full depth. With use today the inch of new snow should make very good skiing. Some of the trail was getting a crown last week and that was removed on Wednesday of this week. Skate skiing is very good and classical skiing is in good condition. Base depth is 1" to 4.5" thick.

AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER TRAIL
