Nah...Italians never complain.

I want to state that the intent of my original posting was not to
complain or whine -- truth be known, I'm absolutely tickled that
the Birkie was even held, and that the course was as good as it
was -- but I was curious about the apparent "discrepancy" in the
course distance. My last 1.7 km did indeed suck, but my race as a
whole was truly an enjoyable one.

To paraphrase what someone else said, when you're a pathetically
under-trained (and technique-disadvantaged) citizen racer such
as myself, about the only race strategy you can have is to
try and save a little bit for the end, and then "smoke 'em if
you've got 'em". I clearly lit mine up too early, and 1.7km
is a non-trivial distance for a slug like me. I guess from now
on I'll wait for the sight of finish line banner.

So...if anyone on the Birkie Foundation is on this list,
THANK YOU for a great race experience...but just try and give
us a better idea of course distance when alterations are
necessary...
