Title: back from the UP

OK, lucky me just got back from 10 days in Ironwood and the skiing was pretty good

ABR is holding on with a solid base but there are thin spots. they deserve credit for shoveling snow onto the downhills

skating is good to very good, classic tracks are fair and haven't been reset since Xmas, waxless or klister was working

Wolverine had similar conditions but a lot less ski traffic, icy in spots but only 7 K of trail open

The best conditions were in Houghton, Mich on the new Michigan Tech Trails, wide boulevards with a huge skate land and single track

they have about 15K of trails but all are two-way, which means you can go both directions

Didn't make it to telemark or the birkie trail because all the hayward people were over at ABR

I guess they are still skiing on the lakes around hayward

all in all, pretty bleak but there is skiing out there if have the time to drive to the UP

Anyone traveling north to snow this week-end? I am interested in
going and am looking to share driving. Was anyone at ABR last
week-end? How was it? I was at Telemark: they get an A for effort but
a C- for trail report honesty.

If you are traveling and have room or want to ride with me, respond
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or 849-9527.
