Just an FWIW, there was a discussion on NPR over the weekend about open water
on lakes this year. Reports of open water on lakes that traditionally are
well frozen over by now, even in Minnesota. Theories vary from windy nights
preventing ice from forming or moving existing ice around, to the increased
UV radiation from the lower ozone layer.

Lake ice may not be what we're used to in the past.

Just something to keep in the back of your mind as you're crusing around out
there !
