Yes, I was assuming the same and
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_Virtualization_with_VMWare
worked just fine with ESX4.1 but with ESXi5 I get the following error message:

[root@master ~]# nodeset hs21-3 install
hs21-3: Error: Unable to identify plugin for this command, check relevant
tables: nodetype.os
Error: Some nodes failed to set up install resources, aborting

[root@master ~]# tabdump nodetype
...
"hs21-3","esxi5","x86_64","base","install",,"osi",,

[root@master ~]# copycds <ESXi5 ISO>

worked fine.

Am I overlooking something here?

Cool!

Subject: [xcat-user] xCAT and ESXi5?
------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,
is there an easy way to deploy ESXi5 with xCAT (maybe some preliminary patches).
ESXi 4.1 works fine with xCAT but I'd like to do deploy ESXi5 without Update
Manager.
