There is also information about adding tables in this manual.

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_Developer_Guide

You actually could define a table , such as the powerlog similar to some
of our other tables eventlog, auditlog.
#recid,rectime, data1, data2,....,comments,disable.
And from rvitals record, whatever data, you want using tabch to record
returned from rvitals in the cron job. Naming data1, data2,
appropriately.
Then as Ling says you can use tabdump to pull the records you want, using
the [-w attr==val]  options.
See man tabdump.

It looks like you need to set up a cron job to call rinv and then save the
date somewhere. Do you know you can add your own tables to the xCAT DB?
Take a look at /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT_schema/samples/Sample.pm
Then you can use xCAT's functions/commans (like tabch, tabdump) to add and
retrieve the date from the table.

Is there any way to obtain historical data about power usage by a PERCS
rack?

The rvitals command shows me the relevant current data, but I need data
from the past few days/weeks/months. Is such information stored anywhere
(database, system file, ???) by default, or do I need to set up a
script/cron which will capture this data periodically for me?

Thanks.
