I have upgraded, carefully, to 2.6.8 hoping to clear up any issues. The upgrade appeared to go well and everything seems to be functioning except genimage which now gives the following output:
[root@master3 ~]# which genimage /opt/xcat/bin/genimage [root@master3 ~]# genimage -i eth0 -n 8021q,dca,igb,squashfs,aufs,loop -o centos5.6 -p compute_cent56 OS: centos5.6 Profile: compute_cent56 Interface: eth0 Generating image: Error: Unsupported request I suspect there is somewhere that xcat is not liking the way genimage is talking to it but I have found no help for this issue in my searches so far. It reports the same regardless of what options are given and the same even if an existing image is chosen to be regenerated. If I recall, the print $inifile line was the one biting us, but that was awhile ago. After you make those changes and re generate the initrd, the interface should be manually set. Your driver line from genimage looks fine, and it's the same hardware type and os version we're using. If I remember, this issue (as alluded to in Mark's post) was fixed in a later xCAT version.
