As Bruce said xCAT doesn't currently support some of
the OS's you're interested in, but there's nothing to
stop you from scratching that particular itch.
I guess the main issue is that, at the moment, nobody
here is likely doing what you wish to do with it. For
instance here we use xCAT to manage our SGI Altix XE HPC
cluster, our IBM iDataPlex HPC cluster and the SLES10
front-end nodes for our IBM Blue Gene/P.
But as this is HPC Linux is king, and so we are in the
fortunate position of not having to deal with anything
else other than RPM distros for that..
Our infrastructure VM's, however, are almost exclusively
Debian based and so we use Puppet to manage those (though
not to do the initial install).
