Thanks to all for your comments. As a result i have so far: Its looks like that xCat is a good foundation to handle bar metall and VMs base OS installation but other tools like puppet should be taken in more complex environment.
So i took a look at puppet and the paradigm behind looks promising. Only drawback is that they do not support AIX but a request is out to find out how easily puppet can be extended to support other additional client OSs. I took also a look at scVenus - which looks similar to puppet - from Science & Computing and would like to know if somebody is using a xCat+scVenus combination and how well they work together.
