Hi all,
We just got in some shiny new idataplex machines. For whatever reason,
there seems to be a lot of inconsistency from xcat in communicating with the
BMCs.
Here is some general information first:
xCAT version:
xCAT-2.6-snap201104261125
OS/kernel:
RHEL5.7 - 2.6.18-274.12.1.el5
The newest idataplex hardware details:
iDataPlex dx360 M3 Server
BMC Firmware: 1.30 (YUOOC7E 2011/09/30 03:12:03)
Product ID: 215
UEFI Version: 1.16 (TME154A 2011/09/22)
The issues I'm seeing are hard to replicate, because there is no
consistency. rinv works sometimes, doesn't work other times. Sometimes there
are timeouts, sometimes there aren't. power control doesn't work at all.
Sometimes I get messages similar to this:
Error2 retrieving UEFI build version
???
I can also remotely query the BMCs using ipmitool, but even that is noticeably
slower than some of our other nodes. I've verified that our older idataplex
hardware work fine.
Anyone seeing similar issues to this?
