We're running 2.7.3, and looking under xcat-dep/x86_64/rh6, I do not see xCAT-genesis or elilo. So to use Bruce's recommendation, which I agree is cleaner than mine, I would need to first link elilo and xCAT-genesis to the OS-specific directory and re-run createrepo there to include them.

Yes, but xcat has a bug in that the xCATsn rpm didn't have Require statements for elilo-xCAT and xCAT-genesis-x86_64. Only the xCAT rpm did. I just fixed that in the trunk (development version). I'll fix it in 2.7 also, but it won't make it into 2.7.5 because that's just about to be released, but it will be fixed in 2.7.6.

In the mean time, Christian's work around is correct, except that you should use:

xcat/xcat-dep/rh6/x86_64/elilo-xcat
xcat/xcat-dep/rh6/x86_64/xCAT-genesis-x86_64

specifying elilo-xcat in the rh6/x86_64 sub-directory should mean that you don't have to run createrepo (because we've already run createrepo in all of the sub-directories of xcat-dep).

These two packages were added into the xcat-dep, and them have been added as the dependency for the xCAT rpm package. So using the latest version of xCAT and xcat-dep can make the installing of elilo and xCAT-genesis to be automatically.

xcat/xcat-dep/elilo-xcat-3.14-4.noarch.rpm
xcat/xcat-dep/rh6/x86_64/xCAT-genesis-x86_64

Also had to run createrepo in xcat-dep. Can't remember what error caused us to install elilo on the service nodes.

for some reason the xcat servicenode script did not installed the xCAT-genesis package. any reason for that? have we mis-configured something?

manually install the package and restart the xcatd makes the boot process work again.
