It does not matter which one comes first. If you really want the FQDN 
first, then use makehosts -l command. -l will put long name first.

It would appear that the makehosts is creating the entries incorrectly.
The first 2 enteries for slesxcat I entered.  The last entry was created 
by the makehosts command.  Or does it really make a difference if the 
short name comes before the FQDN?

# IP-Address  Full-Qualified-Hostname  Short-Hostname
#
172.16.1.40     slesxcat.s390.mainline.com slesxcat
10.6.0.40       slesxcat.s390.mainline.com slesxcat
