hi Christopher Samuel,
It seems that there are some problems in your initrd-statelite.gz
generated by "genimage".
I need to know the following info to help you:
1. you system info:
the os release and arch of xcat mgt server
the xcat version on your mgt server, this can be obtained by running
"lsxcatd -v" on the mgt server
2. the node definition, this can be obtained by running "lsdef <node
name>"
3. pls attach or send the initrd if convenient,(on your mgt server, that
is "/install/netboot/rhels6/x86_64/compute/initrd-statelite.gz").
4. pls attach the tarball of "/tftpboot/xcat/xnba/nodes/" on your mgt
server if convenient.
Of course, you can do some investigation by yourself, unzip the initrd and
check whether the file "90parse-nfsroot.sh" exists under directory
"cmdline" in the initrd, the steps are:
#mkdir -p /tmp/initrd
#cp /install/netboot/rhels6/x86_64/compute/initrd-statelite.gz
/tmp/initrd
#cd /tmp/initrd
#gunzip ./initrd-statelite.gz
#cpio -idum <./initrd-statelite
#ls cmdline/
... make sure 90parse-nfsroot.sh exists ...
best regards

[xcat-user] Statelite newbie problem

Hi folks,
We're just bringing up a new iDataPlex and trying to use diskless nodes
for the first time and I'm trying to set them up with as statelite with
RHELS6.4.
Just using the supplied xCAT package lists and exclude files I end up
getting a panic on boot due to (what appears to be) an inability for it
to cope with NFS as a root filesystem.
Here's what I'm getting, any ideas? Googling led me to a RHEL bug
report, but that apparently just meant that dracut-network needed to
be installed but it's already in the xCAT package list. :-(
dracut: FATAL: Don't know how to handle
'root=nfs:10.3.0.58:/install/netboot/rhels6/x86_64/compute/rootimg:ro'
dracut: Refusing to continue
