No rinstall does not yet support running nodeset <osimagename>, that is on
our development list; so do this
nodeset compute osimage=mycomputeimage
rsetboot compute net
rpower compute boot

This is documented here.

Subject: [xcat-user] xCAT2.8 synclists in osimage not found if synclist
            not named like profile name

Hi,
we have the following definitions - this node is freshly installed using

nodech han0014 osimage=sles11.2-x86_64-install-accgprofile
rinstall han0014

Is rinstall the correct command to use any more? I can see, that rinstall
still uses the "old style" nodeset install, which causes warnings to be
displayed. After installation, files are missing. Checking with updatenode
-F, It turns out, that the synclist referenced in the osimage is not found.
Message "There were no syncfiles defined to process".

The definitions: profile name is accgprofile

hxc0001:/install/postscripts # lsdef han0014

The osimage points to the synclist we want to use (this is NOT named
identical to the profile name, but I thought, this is a way we can point to
synclists here that can be named as I like, otherwise I do not understand,
why we have a reference here..

hxc0001:/install/postscripts # lsdef -t osimage
sles11.2-x86_64-install-accgprofile
Object name: sles11.2-x86_64-install-accgprofile
    imagetype=linux
    osarch=x86_64
    osname=Linux
    osvers=sles11.2
    otherpkgdir=/install/post/otherpkgs/sles11.2/x86_64
    otherpkglist=/install/custom/install/sles/accgprofile.otherpkgs.pkglist

    pkgdir=/install/sles11.2/x86_64
    pkglist=/install/custom/install/sles/accgprofile.sles11.pkglist
    profile=accgprofile
    provmethod=install
    synclists=/install/custom/install/sles/compute_all.synclist
    template=/install/custom/install/sles/accgprofile.sles11.tmpl
hxc0001:/install/postscripts #

When running updatenode -F:

hxc0001:/install/postscripts # updatenode han0014 -F
There were no syncfiles defined to process. File synchronization has
completed.
hxc0001:/install/postscripts #

So I copied over the synclist to a synclist named according to the profile
name (which would be the "old style pre osimage" way), and it works
immediately.

hxc0001:/install/custom/install/sles # cp compute_all.synclist
accgprofile.synclist
hxc0001:/install/custom/install/sles # updatenode han0014 -F
File synchronization has completed.
hxc0001:/install/custom/install/sles #

Maybe I'm missing something completely, thanks for clarifying things...

Herbert
