Hello Katrin, in the 2.6.9 release notes on http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_2.6.9_Release_Notes in the section "Key Bugs Fixed" there is written: 3377379 - genimage plugin hangs when postinstall script prompts Not entirely sure if the getty thing is processed in postinstall scripts and furthermore, the release notes state that the bug has been fixed. But might be a start for investigations. As for the network question: Have you checked if by default the infiniband NIC is discovered as "ib*" instead of "eth*"?
