YOu can try it . We have been mostly successful if the Management Node
is the highest PTF level. For example, if the Management Node is SLES11
SP2 and you are building SLES11 SP1 images. If you are trying to build
SLES11 SP2 images on a SLES11 SP1 Management Node, it might work. It just
depends on the changes between those two releases of SLES. There are no
guarantees when you start combining levels. Maybe someone else on the
mailing list has actually done it, or you can let us know if you get a
working image.

Hi! Thank you for your replies.
I will upgrade xCAT soon.
Another question, does it effect genimage if the OS of the appliance is
SLE-11-SP1 and I'm trying to build an SP2 image?
The build of an SP1 image works just fine.
Best,
Katrin

You should upgrade to 2.6.11. That is the only level of 2.6 we still
support. Even better go to 2.7 or 2.8.

Hello Katrin,

in the 2.6.9 release notes on
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_2.6.9_Release_Notes

in the section "Key Bugs Fixed" there is written:

3377379 - genimage plugin hangs when postinstall script prompts

Not entirely sure if the getty thing is processed in postinstall scripts
and furthermore, the release notes state that the bug has been fixed. But
might be a start for investigations.

As for the network question: Have you checked if by default the infiniband
NIC is discovered as "ib*" instead of "eth*"?

Mit freundlichen Gr??en / Kind regards

Hi,
I?m trying to build a statelite image for SLES11SP2 with genimage (xcat
2.6.9) and there is always an error occurring concerning gettyset:
insserv: Service gettyset is missed in the runlevels 4 5 to use service
xcatpostinit Furthermore, eth1 is not recognized, but needed for IB (MLNX).

Do you have any idea how to solve this?
Thank you in advance!
K.Otte
