Nodels <noderange> nodehm.serialflow
If set to ‘hard’, some systems will flip out in the way you describe.
I suggest just disabling it (nodech noderange nodehm.serialflow=). The
potential downside (what you hit) is worse than the theoretical upside (reduced
chances for occasional dropped characters, but on modern systems with SOL those
chances are pretty low).
Let us know if that is it.

Subject: Re: [xcat-user] Dell c6220 boot stalls
I've found a workaround for this. I left one of the c6220s in the stalled state
overnight again. I went to look at it remotely this morning via serial over
lan. As soon as I connected to it, the install continued. The same thing
worked for the other three servers. Then, I tried setting up the console server
and started the installs again. This time, the console server daemon kept an
sol connection to the servers open and the installs completed without any other
intervention from me. Is this expected behavior or is there a way to fix this?

Hello,
I have four Dell PowerEdge c6220s that freeze during the install process via
pxe and xnba. The other nodes in this cluster, a mix of PE 1950s and PE R410s,
can boot into the CentOS 7 install media and are provisioned correctly. My xCAT
version is 2.9.1.
The install process starts out fine. The nodes download their gpxe, vmlinuz,
initrd.img, and ks files and start booting into the installation media but the
installations halt shortly after that. The last line of output on the monitor
is always "[ OK ] Listening on Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Stack Activation Socket."
After that, nothing. I left it overnight, came back and still had the same text
on the screen. I've done a bit of searching and not found anything about this.
Maybe I've missed something. Has anyone experienced this before? Anyone have
suggestions for a fix? I'm not sure what other info to provide so, if anything
else would be helpful, just let me know.
Thanks,
Matt
