xCAT 2.10 supports rhels 7.1, the package list and template files for
rhels7.1 can be found in:
root@kvm1:/opt/xcat/share/xcat/install/rh# pwd
/opt/xcat/share/xcat/install/rh
root@kvm1:/opt/xcat/share/xcat/install/rh# ls compute.rhels7.* -l
-rw-r--r-- 1 nobody nogroup 139 Jul 23 00:51 compute.rhels7.pkglist
-rw-r--r-- 1 nobody nogroup 2924 Jul 23 00:51 compute.rhels7.tmpl
please make sure the pkglist and template attributes of you redhat7
osimage are right, here is an example :
root@kvm1:~# lsdef -t osimage -o rhels7.1-x86_64-install-compute
Object name: rhels7.1-x86_64-install-compute
imagetype=linux
osarch=x86_64
osdistroname=rhels7.1-x86_64
osname=Linux
osvers=rhels7.1

If any problem, you can either rerun the copycds to update the "osimage -o
rhels7.1-x86_64-install-compute" definition or modify the definition
manually.

Hello,
We have just upgraded to xCAT 2.10 since we have a requirement to do a
rhel 7.1 installation (on a couple of diskful nodes in our cluster). I’m
aware that there are changes to the kickstart file between rhels 6 and 7,
however it isn’t clear me to how to migrate from one to the other (re the
xCAT installation). I’ve tried modifying the kickstart file that we use to
build rhels 6 nodes to no avail. When I attempt to build a node using
rhels 7 the installation process halts. There’s something about a
requirement to do a completely non interactive installation (sounds very
reasonable), and then a bizarre comment about not being to find busybox.
There’s a screenshot below. Also I have attached a copy of the kickstart
file that I’m using in xCAT. This file has been slightly modified to
remove the obvious problems.
I wondered if anyone could please provide a working rhels 7.1 kickstart
file that they have used with xCAT, and/or advise how my kickstart file
should be modified.
