We just tried to update xcat from 2.10 to devel level, it worked fine.
http://xcat-docs.readthedocs.org/en/latest/guides/install-guides/yum/update_xcat.html
1) replace repo file with 2.10
[xcat-2-core]
name=xCAT 2 Core packages
baseurl=http://xcat.org/files/xcat/repos/yum/2.10/xcat-core
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://xcat.org/files/xcat/repos/yum/2.10/xcat-core/repodata/repomd.xml.key
2) yum clean all
3) yum update '*xCAT*'
you can use rpm -qa | grep xCAT to verify if you installed same level of
xCAT packages.
Thanks,
Casandra

Hi Victor,
Thanks very much for the detailed explanation. I'm not sure I followed all
of it but I think I understand enough for what I need.
If I could get some confirmation that I could replace my 2.9 repo file with
the 2.10 repo file and then do "yum update" and everything would update
correctly that would be helpful. If that isn't the way to do it please let
me know what the proper way is.
I'm a proponent of the snap-builds if it means that we can get bug fixes
through YUM rather than through git. It looks like that is what I must have
done with this system since I have a snap repo. I think it was to get other
CentOS 7 functionality. If a new 2.9 snap build could be created with the
synclists bug fix included that would be helpful.
Thanks again,
Steve

Hi Stephen
I have not run it myself, but we should support the 2.9 -> 2.10 migration
path. xCAT GA'ed 2.9.2 recently but it was done ONLY for AIX.
This is why there is no Linux option.
One option if you do not want to upgrade to 2.10 is to patch your system
with the fix in the commit ID's that Xiao Peng mentioned below.
Just FYI, for the upcoming 2.11 release, we have created a new xCAT
landing page over at http://xcat.org. This new page came about because
moving off SF to GitHub left some missing pieces.
I mention that because you said maybe you would move over to 2.10, which
is a version we do have hosted over at xcat.org.
The snapshot is essentially a build that contains fixes but does not get
run through all the regression that would happen prio to GA. I am
trying to see if we can bring this back for 2.11 and create more regular
snap builds.
Would you have been willing to take a snapshot build under the
understanding that it contains some bug fixes but is not fully regression
tested until we see a need to GA the next minor version...?

Subject: Re: [xcat-user] syncfiles postscript problem
Hi,
I think I am running into this too. I am on a CentOS 7 system using the
xCAT 2 Core Packages repo which still points to xCAT 2.9.1. This bug
seems to have been fixed in 2.9.2. What is the best way for me to go from
2.9.1 to 2.9.2 or 2.10 using the YUM repositories?
The baseurl is pointing to:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xcat/files/yum/2.9/core-snap
I'm not sure why it is pointing to core-snap instead of xcat-core. In any
event, all of the rpms in 2.9/core-snap and 2.9/xcat-core seem to be from
March which was before the bug was fixed.
I'm tempted to just grab the 2.10 repo file and then do yum update but I
also want to make sure I don't break anything.
If anyone could give some thoughts on this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks a lot,
Steve

Hi all,
Just FYI, I was able to track this down to sshd not running during the
kickstart install. I've moved syncfiles to the postbootscripts section
and it is now working.
