David, you would need to set

cons=openbmc
mgt=openbmc
netboot=petitboot

Here is an example:

I don’t see anything there as to the format of nodehm or noderes lines.
I need to know what to put in place of “ipmi” for the power and console
fields, since ipmitool doesn’t work on these nodes.

Could someone please send me the output of

lsdef —osimage <power9_node>

so I can see what is needed and what I’m missing?

      We are trying out two power9 systems, which come with petitboot, one
      with traditional ipmi, the other with openbmc.
      Can anyone offer a quick start to the tables I would have to
      configure in xcat to get these to netboot (rhel7.x).
      Presumably noderes, nodehm, nodelist. Examples for console and
      power would be nice, though I’ve found the
      doc to be able to do these things using openbmctool and ssh.
      Example of genimage and mknb too?

      I have scripts for x86_64 that we have dragged along since 2009, but
      haven’t touched PPC since the days of AIX.

      Thanks,
