Hello,

The xcat.log file says only the syslog and remoteshell (default postscripts
provided by xCAT) were ran on the node.

Last Friday I tried removing the exlist file for the node and setting the
provmethod to "netboot" instead of the osimage name. When the node booted, at
first there was no change. However, after a while, all remaining postscripts
were finally executed. I then checked again the xcat.log file and it said 13
minutes were elapsed between the remoteshell and the syncfiles scripts. After
the syncfiles, all remaining custom postscripts executed properly.

So now I need to investigate why the remoteshell postscript takes so long to
run.

Best regards,

If you can access compute node, checking /xcatpost dir, the mypostscripts file
and all other postscripts should be download to this dir.

you should see those few lines in the /var/log/xcat/xcat.log on the compute
node:

Mon Oct 22 11:49:04 EDT 2018 [debug]: xcat.xcatdsklspost: Running
/opt/xcat/xcatdsklspost
Mon Oct 22 11:49:04 EDT 2018 [info]: xcat.xcatdsklspost: trying to download
postscripts...
Mon Oct 22 11:49:04 EDT 2018 [debug]: xcat.xcatdsklspost: trying to download
postscripts from http://172.16.253.100/install/postscripts/
Mon Oct 22 11:49:04 EDT 2018 [debug]: xcat.xcatdsklspost: postscripts are
downloaded from 172.16.253.100 successfully.
Mon Oct 22 11:49:04 EDT 2018 [info]: xcat.xcatdsklspost: postscripts downloaded
successfully

Check the /tmp/wget.log if failed to download postscripts.

the ip address showed above should be your xCAT master ip address, verify in
the xcatinfo on the compute node

# cat /opt/xcat/xcatinfo
IMAGENAME='xcat.redhat.full.netboot'
IMAGEUUID='9358151b-03fa-4230-ad63-b152fd2375fe'
TIMESTAMP='Thu Sep 27 11:34:20 EDT 2018'
XCATSERVER='172.16.253.100'
USEFLOWCONTROL=NO
NODE=mid21tor24cn03

On the xCAT master, check the site table for master value:

# tabdump site | grep master
"master","172.16.253.100",,

Thanks,

Hi Song,

The xcat log file says only the syslog and remoteshell postscripts were
executed.
It also looks like for a "mypostscripts" file but I'm not sure where it tries
to retrieve it from and what that file is.
There are 3 postscripts that should be run on the nodes but none of them are. I
tried pushing them in both osimage and postscripts table, it didn't change
anything.
The exports from the head node are correctly mounted, the network settings are
also good...I really have no idea what's happening here.
