I forget the version but the board is discontinued & I needed Supermicro 
support to provide it...

I think Mario has fixed his issue though,
by changing the console redirection settings for the kernel

I think i may have had a similar issue with an image & a supermicro board...
A firmware update of the board solved the problem for me
