I assume "postscripts" attribute of the node definition contains
"remoteshell" ?
After the install you can look into /var/log/xcat/xcat.log on the compute
node to see if "remoteshell" is attempted to be executed.
You should see something similar to:
Wed Sep 2 03:58:50 EDT 2020 [info]: xcat.deployment.postscript: postscript
start..: remoteshell
Wed Sep 2 03:58:52 EDT 2020 [info]: xcat.deployment.postscript: postscript
end...: remoteshell return with 0

As a bit more of a followup:
No postscripts are running on stateful install, and so because
'remoteshell' isn't run, all of the other postscripts fail. We can SSH
into the node, provide the password and then run /xcatpost/remoteshell
which appears to work, as we can now SSH into the node without having to
provide a password, and postscripts can be run via 'updatenode'

Hi,
We've run into an issue with deploying CentOS 8.2 nodes (previously
CentOS7 cluster). The nodes will deploy, but postscripts aren't being
run.
Attempting to run them by hand gives an inconclusive result. On a
working node, running:
/xcatpost/mypostscript
runs as expected. Running on a CentOS 8.2 system:
++ . /xcatpost/xcatlib.sh
+++ declare -a array_nic_params
+++ declare -a array_extra_param_names
+++ declare -a array_extra_param_values
++ return_value=0
++ set +x
and that's it. Any clues what might be wrong?
