Besides SELinux being enabled, xcatprobe xcatmn -i internal_interface didn't
report anything else missing.

I've booted the computing nodes in permissive mode but still no compute.log so
it should not be anything SELinux related, how does this works? It runs syslog
daemon on headnode and syslog daemon as client on computing nodes? I can
troubleshot towards that

Yes I can see commands and cluster logs. The xCAT version is 2.16, headnode is
running RHEL 8.2 and the nodes CentOS 8.2

I will run the command later and inform if there is something missing here

Are other log files there, like /var/log/xcat/cluster.log and
/var/log/xcat/commands.log ?
What version of xCAT ?
Have you tried running "xcatprobe xcatmn" ? Perhaps some configuration is off.

I usually followed and troubleshoot deploys at /var/log/xcat/computes.log, but
I just installed a new machine and there is no such file.

Am I missing something? Was it removed?

I forward all the output to my postscripts to syslog with below command at top
of each postscript, but now I can't see anything,

exec 1> >(logger -s -t xCAT -p local4.info) 2>&1
