FWIW, turns out one of the postscripts was calling to download/install the LVM 
suite from a local repo that was offline, then ran a vg create and fed some 
args to grub2-mkconfig which dutifully pointed to a logical volume that didn't 
exist and then rebooted at the end of the script. Of course, when the system 
came up, the lv wasn't there and hence dracut-emergency shell, which would have 
been a lot nicer if it had more utils to check/fix more stuff. Quick fix was to 
fix the repo, better/next fix would be a smarter script and/or don't needlessly 
create vg's.
