Hello Erik,

Hereby the cleaned up version of the cairo rendering.
I tested it with:
./configure --without-tcl --without-tk --with-cairo
This patch also includes the patch I send you earlier this week.
To keep the patch at a reasonable size I removed all the generated files by
the autoconf/automake tools. Please regenerate them by:
autoreconf -fi

Wow, that is a lot of work.

I'm not even going to try to respond to your comments paragraph by
paragraph. . . yet. Clearly this represents a major change to
xcircuit, and since I have been wanting to call the 3.8 version
"stable" for some time, it makes sense to do that now, then apply
your patch and call it development version 3.9.

I have a lot of comments to make, but I am busy with a lot of
other things today and probably will not get around to testing it
until later. Please ping me again if you haven't heard back from me
by next weekend, but I sincerely hope I can get to it before then.
The "other things" involve chip tapeouts on strict schedules, so they
have to take priority over anything unscheduled.

Thanks for all the hard work (sight unseen---but I can still tell that
it's a lot of hard work)!
                                        Regards,
                                        Tim
