Hello Romano,
I have xcircuit 3.9.37 in Ubuntu 14.04; installed with tcl enabled (I
think it's 8.6).
There are commands like for example, selecting a bunch of text and
applying text -> style -> Italic, or better "clear page" that do not
refresh the canvas until I click somewhere with the mouse. In the latter
case is very noticeable:

The canvas will be cleared as soon as I try do do anything.
There are a few things like that in the cairo graphics version that I
have not cleaned up. Can you please do me a favor and submit this as
a bug to bugzilla? If you can, please enumerate all the ways in which
the refresh fails to happen. These two are ones I didn't know about,
although there's another one with the "+" and "-" macros for changing
the snap spacing that I have known about and have not got around to
fixing. Erik's cairo graphics interface does screen updates differently,
and "drawarea" needs to be called a lot more. The trick is finding all
of the places in the code that "drawarea" needs to be added.
