Try this. Apple wants you to use tabs in Xcode (I know, I hate them too). Create a new tab and double click on where the name of the window would be and call it Console.
In your Preferences, where you have Behaviours, click on the Debugging Starts item and check Display Window and select Console. Now, when you run your app and you hit a breakpoint, the Console tab will display. Turn off the animated view that you hate in that window. I'm expecting that it will never show again as long as that tab is displayed when you hit a breakpoint or condition where the debugger comes up. Let me know how it works.
