Two things probably worth mentioning here that the tool at

www.gpsbabel.org

is useful for converting various GPS waypoint file formats and

there are provisions within the alternative Tim Newport Peace (TNP) airspace
file format for including a Radio field that XCSoar has not supported and
therefore providing the "fix" that many pilots use by utilising the full
allotment of characters for appending VHF radio frequencies that the
OpenAir naming field offers.

Could a part solution lie in adding a Radio field in the OpenAir airspace
format already supported within XCSoar? This would have the added effect of
providing a VHF radio frequency when approaching controlled airspace and a
warning appears.
