I like the turnpoint type default. I also like to start a task definition by selecting the turnpoints right away. I do not see the necessity of a dedicated home field page, though. A "Make this TP my home field" box is enough, in my opinion.
For selecting the points. I must admit I am more or less a visual oriented person, a GUI guy. I would rather like to select them right from my map than from a list. On the map I can E.G. usually see if I get an FAI triangle while selecting the points, and I also get an immediate feeling of the distance. In a list I cannot. In an ideal world, I would also be able to drag the E.G. triangle corners in the map to nearby waypoints in order to make my distance smaller or bigger or adjust the legs not to interfere with special use airspaces. This might be getting even more important, once a weather forecast map is available as a map overlay. Picking TPs from the map might then become a powerful tactical tool. Think rather picking your TP from the weather map, valid for the time you are planning to reach the TP.
