Hi, Rob!

Nice to see! Ok, now we´re able to /create/ :-))
The Manage Button is OK, I like that, too...

Yes, that´s nearly the behaviour, I´d expect when opening a program, clicking on a target on the screen -> nav -> task manager -> manage create etc ... ok. I think most of people will agree with that and find it to be simple and intuitive.

I definitely would place thet manage button in portrait mode, too...

let us /me play a while to find more hints for that ..

hmm..

***
lets talk about placement in order of "importance".

>my< choice would be the following

 manage
 browse
 turnpoints
 rules
 calc
 close

***
Opening the task /manager/, I´d expect at first to see the /manager/ (the manage - button) not the /calc/ screen. (most of informations of calc screen is placed in info boxes, i guess... and MC can be varied on the main screen, too...). In my opinion, the calc screen is nice to have, but not that much important, isn´t it?

***
When opening the task manager, I think it would be a nice idea to write the current/active task in the opening window just above the /new task/ and /declare button/ right beside that little task preview window, wouldn´t it? It´s much place on that window...

something like

"current task: 11 donut cup (AAT)"

        NEW TASK DECLARE

or

"current task: 11 donut cup (racing) 354km"

        NEW TASK DECLARE

***
How do you want to "activate" the task beeing used?
Leaving the modified/created /loaded task and pressing FLY?

just a hint:
in WP this is solved in a -in my opinion- really simple way. You can have 50(?) tasks and all of them are numbered. Only the task 0 is the one, that is active and possible to declare to the loggers.
So just copy your task or rename it "0" and thats all.

***
I know, that XC has an even bigger choice of tasks and names and so.
Maybe a different color in Task Browser for the active task is used?
Or the active task has a Big Black "A" as the very first character in browser?

***
When in /Manage Browse / I suggest it would be a nice Idea to put a "activate" button at the bottom?
You only have 3 buttons - one is left :-)

--> /load rename delete activate/ (or "make current") if you need to avoid is a nearness to WP :-)

So you don´t have to load, save, leave and fly, just "activate" that and declare to logger...
(maybe best in *one* step???) /<- "great" idea - why not?
/
What do you think about that??
In competitions we (and I guess most pilots do so) are programming 2 tasks ore more hours before start and choice just 5 minute before start.. So every minute saved will be important..

OK, girl friend is awake now .. I have to stop now and make some coffee ;-)))
more individual opinions coming up soon...

Clause,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll look into combining the 6.0 and 6.1 task
manager screens to make this clearer.

Difficult behavior in HMI, in my opinion. This
will stop hundreds of newbies - I´m sure.

I think a couple of simple task-buttons like

create
load
edit -> save / save as
delete
activate

would be a really fine and simple solution...

This one goes from your belly button through
your ears and ellbows to the target..
It´s simply not possible to start XC and add a
new task without knowing some really strange
behaviour of this HMI ... In my opinion the old one was slightly better

I`m wondering that in 6.1 Alpha PPC 2003 some
features seems to be suddenly completely lost:

1.The Baro-Altitude for instance given by Flarm is no more displayed.
2.There is no possibility to declare a task.

hmmm..
maybe - I´m a little bit blind, but I can´t find that, too..

I´m able to edit, close (really a GREAT button ..) calculate, but Create
or NEW ???

Just missing that item..

???

Hi Claus,I have no more difficulties there.
Delete the active Task and for a new one
activate the Button "Turn Points" ....., or
"Browse" to choose a Task in your stock.
