I asked a similar question, this is the answer that I got from Rob Dunning (and it works well):
"First, create a "Mixed" task in the task editor with only the start and finish points. Save the task and begin flying. Next, as you need to add turnpoints to your MAT task, use the Waypoint Lookup to find the turnpoitn you want (or just click on the turnpoint in the map) and in the Waypoint popup window, click the Append button.
