I've flown a couple of AAT in Klix 2011 and won 3rd place on DD. My friend flow FF and won 2nd place. We flew with XC 6.09. I had no bugs or crashes at all, but in comparison to WinPilot (which was used parallel on flight), XC is calculating a little bit to pessimistic,
that indeed leads to fly slower - not faster ..??

SoI can't give you a recommendation for the use of XC in AAT, this, because I don know your settings (bugs, safety heights, and so on ..)

One thing I mentioned earlier before - and in my opinion this would be nice to have -, is, to move the AAT-targets within the main screen, this to avoid to much trouble during flight (: clicking nav - nav - targret - siwth to the target you wanna manipulate - move target - see how time in/decreases clicking back to main screen)

WP, Strepla, and I guess SeeYou(?) all are doing it on main screen ... A much better solution, making the "target window" unneccesary because I got a special set of Info Boxes called AAT (that could come up allone,. when Type of task is set to AAT .. perhaps worth a ticket ?? ...) Too much hazzle with clicking around .. This XC - behaviour is not much "handy" I think, especially for single pilots - we flow Duo and Dg1000 so there were no probs at all with navigation during AAt..

To your special problem:
Restarting XC with a lost start time is indeed a bad thing that should be fixed/solved somehow. I didn't happen to me, so I didn't have the need to have this feature - but- you're completely right - it should be done ..

Hi guys,

I would like to ask those of you that fly competitions if you are happy flying AAT tasks with XCSoar? During the two competitions I used XCSoar I came too soon too many times. Once I made a user error and a couple of time XCSoar crashed during the flight. I don't think that the crash itself is anything that bad and I can live with that. What makes XCSoar unusable for me for my AAT tasks is that the start time is lost when the program or the device crashes.

After experiencing the problem I was trying hard to notice/remember my start time and do my calculations manually. But my conclusion is that it's too difficult and distracting. How many people here fly AAT tasks on competitions? I find it surprising that hardly anybody asks for the functionality mentioned in subject.

The feature request in the bugtracker is here http://www.xcsoar.org/trac/ticket/1303 and here http://www.xcsoar.org/trac/ticket/1222 . Please let the developers know if you need this functionality. Thanks a lot.

Tibor
