I've been playing with the idea of getting better air data from a new vario into XCSoar, which I run on an iPAQ 310.
The iPAQ comes with a serial port built in to USB (USB is a serial protocol anyway), which can be used with a voltage level converter (a $6 part from Hong Kong). Does anyone know which COM port to choose? Is it 9600 baud? I can get an echo from the device (with a terminal program on the PC side) only at 4800 baud. More importantly, it appears that the 310 refuses to charge in such a configuration. We know that it needs around +3V on both data (RX/TX) pins (USB pins 2 and 3) in order to "recognize" the charger. Otherwise, it loses charge silently, while the charge LED lights up in a soothing amber color. Suggestions appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special Offer -- Download ArcSight Logger for FREE!
