you can power the 310 and get serial data through at the same time. There are
several boxes available on the market that help you with this, e.g. this one
combined with this cable . I just sold mine and it worked fine. You can also
build one from the car charger plug that came with it and a cell phone
charger/sync cable that has a level converter built in, AFAIR the Siemens S25 /
S35 / M35i had such cables, maybe others, too.
BTW.: The HP USB cable that comes with the 310 is just a charger cable, no sync
cable as it lacks either Rx or Tx (at least with my unit), so don't try
anything using this cable! ;O)
