Hi Peter,

In general XCSoar is able to talk to all LX devices as long as they
don't decide to change the protocol. Since we don't have such a device
on our hands yet we can't really tell, but my guess is that it will
work. If it doesn't you can ask the manufacturer to supply you or us
with the necessary documentation and then we will try our best to make
it work.

> declare a task to the Redbox (passthru the V7)
If the Redbox uses the same protocol as the original FLARM and the V7
just passes those sentences through this should work.

> download a log from the RedBox
If the Redbox uses the same protocol as the original FLARM, then it
will work from XCSoar 6.3 upwards.

Unfortunatly most phones don't have a transflective screen which is
(at the moment) the only solution if you want a good sunlight
readability. The Dell Streak 5/Mini is the only device in that
category that has one, and it is amazing compared to the old PDAs and
other hardware I've seen so far.

There are people pushing this forward already. As with all good idea:
Please create a feature request in our bug tracker if it doesn't exist
