This is how most of us use PDAs in a competition or simple recreational flight:

That is going to lead to trouble at some point. The time for hiding or ignoring should be limited. I see the ignore/hide request as very similar to "ack day" only it removes the airspace from the map for today. Kind of declutters the map in the best case.
