My xcsoar had the same problem of exiting/crashing during flight on my
Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S).

I've solved this by disabling the "screen auto rotation" feature, to keep
the screen always on portrait or landscape position. During flight, the
phone's position may change too fast and it seems to cause the crash. Since
I disabled this feature, XCSoar has been very stable.

After disabling "auto rotation", it has never crashed again.
