I have also built a level-converter circuit using a low cost IC. See

http://xcsoar-i24.wikispaces.com/multi-channel-android-usb-serial-ioio-adaptor

And I have also experience stability issues with the IOIO board. However
I have found:

- If I connect my B500 alone, it is 100% stable.

- If I connect Flarm alone, it fails after about an hour.

- If I connect both, + Flarm on a high baud rate (56k), it fails in a
few minutes.

This is with a number of different versions of XCSoar, but not the
latest. There is a known bug which is believed to have been fixed in
XCSoar 6.3.6. From the change-logs for 6.3.6:

* Android
   - fix crash on IOIO reconnect (#2130)
   - fix interference of two or more IOIO UARTs (#2107)
   - eliminate delay from IOIO connect

I have not had a chance to test this version (let alone 6.3.7 which has
just been released) to confirm if it fixes my problems.

It never occurred to me that this might be a hardware issue. It seems
unlikely as a number of people have experienced these problems and we
are all using different hardware.

I suggest that you test the latest version of XCSoar and if it still
fails, try and capture a dump file and submit bug report on this ticket,
or open a new ticket.
