The hx4700 has only one RS232 port, that's COM1. The others are virtual ports, e.g. Bluetooth. If your EWMR is set to 9600, then the iPaq has to use 9600, too. If COM1 and 9600 doesn't work, then the best guess is that the cable doesn't work. Note: the EWMR does not use standard IGC pinout! It requires a special cable.
