I really enjoy the information XCSoar provides even on a stand-alone cheap
PNA, as I have discussed in places like
http://canberragliding.org/jforum/posts/list/1215.page

I had an interesting flight from Cooma on 5 August 2012. At one stage
XCSoar said w/v 270/49 kmh at 8,000 AMSL. A couple of times XCSoar stopped
stating 'landing'. And it would 'take off' any time ground speed exceeded
say 30 kmh. Most inconvenient, particularly as the .igc log was similar
stopped and restarted.

Also, XCSoar would not calculate w/v perhaps because even 'thermalling' I
was not flying circles [see attached log] because of high winds. I did 4
turns but had to stop 'thermalling' due cloud forming around and below us.

I think I can reset 'takeoff' speed to a lower figure in Settings page 13
Default task rules.

But I would be interested in comments on the use of XCSoar and best settings
for wave flying.
